크고·작지만

Describing Things & Longer Sentences

Learn 8 everyday adjectives, then string two of them together with "and" or "but" to make your sentences twice as expressive.

Before you start

Joining two ideas

Both connectors today attach to the plain dictionary-stem — no batchim rule, no harmony, just swap the ending.

크다 → 크고 예뻐요

-고 = "and"

Drop 다, add 고: 크다 → 크고. Say the first description this way, then finish the sentence normally: "크고 예뻐요" — it's big and pretty.

작다 → 작지만 좋아요

-지만 = "but"

Same idea: drop 다, add 지만. "작지만 좋아요" — it's small, but it's good.

⚠️ 좋아요 ("is good") and 좋아해요 ("I like it") look similar but aren't the same word — 좋아요 describes something, 좋아해요 says you like something.
